※ 과거와 과거완료의 구분

“나 숙제를 안 했거든“ → 시간과 연관된 어떤 상황에서 이 문장을 쓰느냐에 따라 달라진다.

① 과거 → 이미 지나간 사건을 말할 때

A : Why did you drop?

B : I didn't do the homework.

② 과거완료 → 과거의 사건이 지금까지 영향을 끼치고 있을 때

A : You look nervous.

B : I haven't done the homework yet.

I drank 10 cup of coffee today. 과거의 이미 끝난 상황

I've drunk 10 cup of coffee today. 오늘(지금)까지는 열 잔의 커피를 마셨지만 그 기록은 바뀔 수 있는 문제 !

I never met my father. 돌아가셨거나 어떤 일 때문에 아버지를 만나지 못했다.

I've never met my father. 아버지를 만날 가능성이 있다.

※ last night, ago, yesterday 와 같이 사용하지 못한다.( today, this week 와는 같이 사용할 수 있다.) 

Have you traveled a lot? 여행 많이 해봤니?

Did you travel a lot last year? 작년에 여행 많이 해봤니?

※ for 는 기간을 말하므로 과거, 과거완료 모두 사용가능

I lived in Seoul for 10 years. 지금은 살고 있지 않다.

I've lived in Seoul for ten years. 지금도 살고 있다.

He has been off work for a long time.

I haven't seen him for 3 years.

The TV station stopped broadcasting for the day.

※ since

I've never seen her since she married.

I've known her since she was a child.

He has learned a lot since he has been here.

※  This is the first time + ~ have pp 오늘까지가 처음이라는 뜻!

This is the first time I have driven a car.

This is the first time he has called her tonight.

This is the first time banks have had this problem.

This is the third time I've been here.
